Painted treasure chest floor and refitted fuel tank. I haven't painted up the sides of the treasure chest as yet but if I take the truck any further the plan would be to replace the pickup bed so I would clean and paint the rest of this area when the bed is off for easier access... Then finally he is back on his wheels this is how it sits down two splines and no engine, and the front beam is at the highest point on the adjusters so there is room to bring the front down to loose some of the gap above the wheels. So left to do is refit engine, lid, rear valence and bumper, paint cab floor, finish off lower screen repair and re-fit screens and wipers before MOT.

looking good, what rubber are you running on the stock rims mate? I'm thinking of getting rid of my empi 5's for stock rims but want to use the same tyres.

I've got 175/55 15's on the front and 165 15's on the rear. I might have gone a bit bigger at the back but the tyres that came with the truck were good so I reused them. Some tyre places didn't want to put tyres on the 15" stock rims as they have no safety bead. I think the later 14" rims do though. Not long I hope. Just got to put screens in and refit wiper motor etc and take it for a test run to check the brakes and the gearbox I had in bits then MOT.

After having some problems with the cooling fan I took the engine out again, replaced the fan and some missing tinware then reinserted it. I had a go with some paint stripper to see if I could uncover the blue logos on the original white paint, however after only taking a small amount of paint off I found some other signwriting so I stopped there for now. Then today I was finally in a position to go for a test drive So i roughly set the front wheel alignment, dragged him out of the garage and went for a spin round the block. Thankfully everything seemed to work ok. I still need to sort the rear shocks as they are catching on part of the straight axle brackets, fit a passenger windscreen and screenwash pump before the MOT

I had a close look at mine and the lower it goes the more it catches. I am replacing the top two bolts with countersunk versions which should give enough room like this (not mine)

looks bang on mate. nice bit of front tuckage, is that with a standard width beam? Yep std beam, std 15" bus rims, 175/55 tyres. From my short trip round the block it seems to ride quite nice. Once I have it all done then the front will come down a bit more yet... I have some commercial caps to go on the wheels which should finish them off nicely, they just need a lick of grey paint.

I have managed to fix the problem of the shocks hitting the the straight axle bracket bolts by replacing the top two bolts with countersunk versions... This gives just enough clearance (it doesn't look much but this is partly due to the angle the photo was taken at) and after jumping up and down on the rear I couldn't get them to touch... I have now also got a passenger screen fitted and sorted out the screen wash and wipers, all the electrics seem ok and even the fuel gauge is working! MOT is booked for 2 pm tomorrow

PASSED Typically the brake lights and number plate light decided to stop working whilst on the ramp but after a bit of fiddling they came back to life! And apparently the front brakes are a bit imbalanced but not enough to fail. Then it was off to the post office to collect my FREE tax disc Still lots to do, got some seat belts to go in, paint the hub caps. and paint and fit the hoops for the rear bed. I also need to sort some of the surface rust on the roof and gutters before it gets any worse...
